Description: On offer, we have "Three Women On Boat", an original woodblock by Japanese artist Yoshu Chikanobu. It is signed with his seal and has writing in the margins. This is from his series "Pastimes Of Young Women". The print is 10" X 14 1/2" including the margins. Interesting, it is on a grey cardboard with handwritten titles and description including "Pub: Heikichi Matsuki Toyko, 1903". The board is 15 1/4" X 22 1/2". This can be shipped with, or without, the cardboard: your choice. Without the board, shipping will cost much less. About the artist: Toyohara Chikanobu (1838–1912), better known to his contemporaries as Yōshū Chikanobu, was a Japanese painter and printmaker who was widely regarded as a prolific woodblock artist during the Meiji epoch. (Wikipedia) This is in excellent condition. The print is bright, bold, clean and clear. It has wear on the edges. The very old paper has been handled and has some light wrinkles. As I am not an expert on art, please see my photographs for more description. This is from my friend who collects everything and is starting to part with a few of his treasures.
