Description: Kind of light for it's size, sort of a cross between a suitcase and a trunk. Made from that stiff paper material they used to use. All the hardware is intact, the latches work good, the lock does not have the key anymore, I did not try to latch the lock. Handle is still intact. On one side it says, "F.C. Luth (previous owner), and USS Scorpion, Con'sple, Turkey". Previous owner with the USN as stated on one end. I looked it up and the USS Scorpion at that time was a two masted steamer, stationed at Constantinople around 1917-1919 to protect US Nationals. It was apparently held there by the Turkish government for a year or so. After release back to US service, visited the city again in 1920. Kind of interesting. The trunk or suitcase has some stickers on it, I can read a Cairo Hotel, looks like a decal for Gibraltar, a Constantinople hotel, something in Naples, and other I can't read. On the other side is two decals, one that might be a hotel in Hamburg and an unreadable decal. The suitcase in pretty good shape, more wear on the bottom.Measures 29" by 15 1/2" by 6 1/2" deep. I don't find any indication of a manufacturer. I think this is an original military issue enlisted man's trunk.
