Description: Presented is a pair of old American coin silver serving spoons, dating to around the 1780s-1790s, likely made by Isaac Sanford. The spoons are a true large serving size at 9.25 inches long, beautifully hand engraved with bright cut foliate decoration and oval cartouches on the terminals of the handles The spoons are monogrammed with AE in flowing script. One spoon is stamped with a maker's mark of IS in an engrailed punch, the other is stamped in an engrailed punch with I. Sanford, which appears double struck. We believe these marks are for the same maker, just different punches, and we believe the maker to be Isaac Sanford of Connecticut, circa 1785-1793. This pair of spoons is in excellent condition, particularly considering their age. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
