Description: Excellent original drawing signed "Sue Eshleman." It is of a beautiful young lady in flowing black gown with white lace top edge, holding a small bouquet of flowers. She is seated in front of a large orange colored heart with a white lacy trim. Drawing was created in the late 1930's or early 1940's before Ms. Eshleman married and became Suzanne Eshleman Hoffman. She came from the Strasburg, Pennsylvania area, and attended the Philadelphia School College of Art. Work is drawn on heavy illustration board by "Monogram." Board measures 15" x 20". Edges of board are rough, and work has some scratches and bumps. The white border areas have some spots and imperfections. The black gown has several long scratches down the right side. I found this one and numerous other drawings she created at a local auction. They had been stored in a barn for many years, so conditions were not good for the art to remain in top-notch condition. Work would still look excellent when matted and framed. This one and several others give a great glimpse into ladies fashion and looks of a long-ago era. It's been very difficult to find information on Mrs. Hoffman, so if any eBayer has anything to add, please let me know and I will put the details in this and future listings. I will place this drawing in a plastic sleeve and add a piece of white foam board to protect during USPS Priority Mail delivery in a large bubble envelope. I'll mail the same day, or next day after payment is received. Track Page Views With Auctiva's FREE Counter
