Description: This vintage piece of ephemera is a book plate from a 1910 copy of Green Willow and other Japanese Fairy Tales by Grace James, illustrated by Warwick Goble. Sadly, it comes from a copy of the book that was damaged, and all but fell apart in my hands when I opened it. I have saved the plates, and am selling them individually here on eBay, as they still retain their incredible beauty, and would be lovely framed. Each tipped-in plate comes with the tissue facing page with its inscription. This plate shows us an image of "Urashima", a fisherman who was lured under the sea by the Daughter of the Deep Sea, in a tale rather like Rip van Winkle. Condition: Good, with some slight rippling to the page from humidity, some slight surface dirt/scuffing to the page, the cover sheet has been removed, some minor yellowing of the paper with age, some edge distress, and small corner bumps all around. See photos for details, and my About Me for more info on how we grade our items. Size: The plate itself is approximately 6.75 inches high by 4.75 inches wide, and the page and tissue guard are 6.75 inches high by 9.75 inches wide.
