Description: Beautiful Vintage Burleigh Pottery Pitcher, "Balmoral" pattern made in 1955 in England. The piece is completely hand painted and signed on the bottom by the artist. The pitcher stands 6" high, is 6" from handle to spout, 4 1/4" wide and has a 3" base. The pitcher has a cream colored background and is covered in 24K gold swirls and squiggles. There are very unique flowers painted around the circumference in blue, yellow, pink and red. The top rim, handle and base are painted gold and the inside is cream colored. The bottom is stamped in green with the company name, Made in England, the Balmoral pattern name and the pattern and piece registration numbers. The pitcher is also inscribed on the bottom to "Margaret with Best Wishes September 1955" and is signed by the artist as well "Haythornthwaite". The inscription and signature are painted in the same gold used to decorate the pitcher (it looks black in the photos but is actually gold) and is under the glaze. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is some minor paint wear to the bottom edge of the base. The pitcher has overall very fine age crazing. This pattern is rare and hard to find. Makes an amazing display piece!!
