Description: Vintage Ugo Zaccagnini Ceramic Hand Painted Pheasant Bird Figurine Made In Italy. Ugo Zaccagnini opened his first studio in 1891 in Florence, Italy. He closed that one in 1896 and entered into a partnership with six of the most talented craftsmen in Florence at that time. He left this partnership and opened another studio in 1905.In his new studio, Ugo produced both the standard offerings of the traditional Italian potter and new and surprising artistic creations that caught the attention of the art world. Zaccagnini would eventually become famous for both his Art Nouveau and later his Art Deco figures. He passed away in 1937 at the age of 69. His children took over, and as a tribute to his work, the makers mark of a capital Z and a squiggly line through it are on each of the pieces. This pheasant has a bright orange front with yellow, green, gray, and white painted feathers on this back. Its tail is long and different shades of brown. It has a yellow and orange head. It measures 7" long and 5.75" high. It has a few minor paint chips... one on the tail edge, and a few small ones on its sides in the orange area (see photos). The tip of its beak there is a minor chip, and on the tip of its tail (see photos). It looks like the side of the back in an orange area has been touched up with a different color orange paint (see photos). I will ship this item within 1 day of a received payment.
