Vintage Stanley Bailey, Fine #5-1/4 Jr Jack Plane. Rosewood Beauty, Shop Ready

Description: Original and complete, A Vintage Stanley Bailey No 5-1/4 “Junior Jack” plane. It is approx 11 inches long with a blade width of 1-3/4 inches. The #5-1/4 model is the same width as the compact number 3 but even longer than the number 4. Schools found this size very useful for training students in woodworking shops. Just like Stanley’s number 2 model this 5-1/4 model does not follow traditional types or dating methods but blade logo and other clues are available. I believe this plane was made during early 50’s about 70 or more years ago Metal bed and all other metal parts are excellent, no cracks breaks, or repairs. Dk Blue japanning finish is great, more than 95 percent. I placed a flat edge along several places on the sole to insure a flat surface and no warping. The rosewood handles are beautiful and in very good condition as well no breaks, chips or repairs. The original blade is the notched logo cutter. It is straight, no kinks has been freshly sharpened with the correct 25 degree bevel. The mating surface of the chip breaker and blade has been flattened for great fit, see photo. Today my passion still thrives and I enjoy properly oiling/waxing, cleaning or refurbishing, if needed those same vintage woodworking tools. My goal is to place as many of these high quality made in the USA vintage hand tools back into the hands of today’s craftsmen. I would never “part out” a good tool just for the proceeds. If the tool I have acquired is serviceable I will put it into as good of condition it can be and sell to friends or on eBay. All I am trying to do is receive some compensation for my time and retain enough capital to be able to purchase more tools, some in need of gentle care.
