Description: Vintage Purinton Pottery 1940's Slip Ware Handled Pitcher Milk Jug 5" High APPROX MEASUREMENTS 5" wide lip of spout to tip of handle 5" high base to tip of spout. DESCRIPTION This mid-century modern style pitcher was produced using art pottery techniques in the United States during the 1940s. It is an original piece, not a licensed reproduction. From 1939-1959 Purinton Pottery manufactured a wide variety of hand-painted dinnerware.The Wellesville plant remained open until 1941 producing mainly casualware. They made jugs and tumblers, snack trays and mugs, candlesticks and other accessories. Much of this early ware was in solid colors, but even more successful were pieces decorated in simple boldPeasant Warepatterns. Pointed leaves are used to great effect to frame the pink half flowers decorating the sides of this charming pitcher. CONDITION Used but very Good condition. Crack at base of handle, possibly just in the glaze and one blemish in glaze on side, see last 2 pics. Some light reasonable wear/minor cosmetic scuffs (if any) on bottom consistent with prior use, but no chips or crazing.
