Description: This is a vibrant and expressive Vintage Old Modern Asian Filipino Expressionist Oil Painting on canvas, by seldomly seen Filipino modernist painter, Estrella. I could not find any biographical information on this artist, aside from the fact that he had a studio in Angeles City, PI in the mid 1970's. Perhaps you know more about this artist or his work? This piece depicts an expressionistic portrait of a traditional Filipina woman, standing next to several indigenous and traditionally crafted earthenware pots. The woman is depicted against an abstracted deep purple background, with a sun in the distance, possibly a sunset scene. She stares shyly at the viewer and holds her arms in a pensive body gesture. Signed: "Estrella" in the lower left corner. Approximately 9 1/4 x 12 inches. Good condition for decades of age, with some light scuffing and edge wear to the canvas (please see photos.)
