Description: This novelty lighter was made in Tokyo, Japan, by an unknown company, most likely from the 1950s. This style of lighter was likely made to be a souvenir. All-metal construction with a black "case" and black around the camera lens. In addition, attached at the top is a long spring cord that was meant to replicate the look of a snapshot taken with someone standing behind the tripod. Press a button on the front and the flint sparks to light the wick while the top pops up. The lighter has a tripod stand for display on a shelf or desk; it can be removed for use as a pocket lighter. The top of the lighter mechanism is engraved "Photomatic" in an ornate script. The ring around the lens is marked PHOTOMATIC CAMERA LIGHTER. Next to the "shutter" button is a knurled screw cap that covers a small capsulem marked FLINT. There is also a loop for attaching it to chain. Near the ornamental lens is a sliding button, enabling you to lock the mechanism to prevent it from accidentally firing. The lighter is in good condition considering and use. We are not sure if it works. The mechanism jams occasionally but is easy to reset. There are scuffs and scratches throughout the metal of the lighter as should be expected. It would make a perfect gift for a photography enthusiast. Sold as a collector item only. The main camera measures 2.5" by 2" excluding long cord at top and the tripod legs. Tripod legs measure2.5" tall including attached screw piece. Shipped within the USA only. Please review all photos before purchasing. The lighter is sold as-is. If have any questions please contact me before you buy it. Thanks
