He said he believes it was his grandparents , it was sitting on a shelf in the living room for as long as he can remember , not working , and collecting dust . He actually has two of them . This one and an oval one thats advertised separately . Both can be bought together to save on shipping . From the little research that I did it needs the wire for the pendulum , which seems to be easily replaced . The dome is glass and it has its key .
