The back of the tea cup is singned with ”椿窯(Tsubakigama)" in Kanji.A set of teacups with five lucky charms. ①KOTOBUKI(寿) means happiness or longevity in Kanji. ②Four treasures such as the magic mallet drawn. ③The crane and the tortoise are emblems of logevity. ④A bottle gourd has been considered a lucky charm. ⑤Pine, bamboo and plum are symbols of auspicious plants.Seto Sometsuke(blue & white) ware is a traditional craft made in Seto city, Aichi JapanPainted with skillful technique called *Copperplate-printed transfer(please see photo 18-20).Copperplate-printed transfer is a technique, the design is copperplate printed on Japanese washi paper and the paper is stuck onto bisqueware and water applied to transfer the design.*Tsubakigama means Ceramic studio of camellia. Tsubaki means camellia. *Seto ware:The world's leading high-quality, white-fired pottery clay produces ceramics with beautiful glazes and paintings.
