Description: Vintage HUTCH? - REACH No. B110 First Base MittRHT 12"Made in JapanVGC Fresh from a local estate sale. I can just make out the Geo Reach Co on the palm and the B110 is clear, the only other impression I can see on the glove is the NYLON STITCHED on the back of the web. The only other identifying mark is a tiny MADE IN JAPAN label on the wrist strap. The ball shown in the pictures is not included in this sale and is just for scale. My research says that the brand name, Geo Reach Co., was used after the company had been sold to Hutch Sports in 1958. It wasn’t until then that the gloves were made in Japan or so I understand. So I say this glove was made between 1958 and 1977, when the name was no longer used. If anyone out there can help with a more specific date, let me know and I will add that info here. Or if I’ve got it completely wrong here let me know as well. So I will go out on a limb and call this a Hutch-Reach B110, if there are no objections. The only other possibility That I can think of is that it was made pre ’58 by the actual Geo Reach Co. So they may have had a glove made in Japan earlier than we are lead to believe. Either way the Made in Japan label is tiny and unassuming and there are no other labels, so maybe an early import? I also just noticed that Hutch numbers are B and 3 numbers, coincidence? I think not. I love a mystery, don’t you? If you go back and forth on the last 2 pictures, you’ll see the Reach CO. mark along with the B110. I have a 2XL hand size and this glove has lots of room on me. So not only is it an adult glove, but a large one that measures 12”. As for condition, there is no major damage to report. Some of the Nylon stitching on the back of the web is worn through and there is a previous owner’s name in 2 places in ink. The leather is soft and supple, but is dirty from normal use.
