Description: Here is a very nice vintage woodblock print created by the master Gustave Baumann. In excellent condition with no rips, tears, holes or foxing, the piece presents beautifully. Measuring 14 1/2" tall by 12 1/2" wide, the print is on tan wove paper and was made in 1930 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Entitled "Ennui in Valhalla, the Baumanns sent no Christmas Card" it is initialed in the block. What sets this one apart is the presence of the original envelope, addressed by Gustave Baumann to another artist, complete with stamp and postmark. This envelope is original to the woodblock, there is no marriage here. The woodblock print is professionally framed and matted and the original envelope is bagged and taped to the back of the piece. This is a great opportunity to get an original Gustave Baumann with its accompanying envelope and signature. Quite the rare piece, I have not been able to find one currently available for sale online or anywhere else.
