Description: This vintage framed piece is a replica bas-relief of the "Feast of Bacchus" by Francois Duquesnoy. It is a stunning piece of art originally created in the early 1600s and reproduced in this form sometime in the mid-20th century. The sculpture depicts Bacchus with Putti in the artist's baroque style. Duquesnoy was a Flemish sculptor who did most of his work in Rome. He died at an early age (1597-1643) but left a large body of work. This framed piece measures 11 1/2" x 9 1/2" and has a frame depth of 1". The relief measurements are 4 1/2" by 6 3/8". I do not know the material which was used to create this relief. The work is matted in rich velvet and framed in gilded wood. This limited edition piece is numbered 22 out of 57. It was framed by the respected A.P.F. Framemakers and Conservators on New York.
