Description: Vintage Deans Porridge Bear. Rare Porridge Bear manufactured by Dean's Childsplay Ltd. in Great Britian in the 1980s. This bear and its beautiful box were inspired by the 1909 illustration by Jessie Wilcox Smith (1863-1935), entitled "The Epicure" from The Seven Ages of Childhood (on the box cover). This bear is approximately 16" tall, made of brown wool fabric, and is five-way jointed. It has a solid black eyes, a hand embroidered nose and mouth, and light tan paw pads. It was manufactured in Great Britian in Pontypool in the county of Gwent and distributed in North America by Projects International. It is still in the original box with plastic.This Porridge Bear is a Limited Edition and is Number 0023 as hand stamped on his hang tag attached to his shirt by a plastic tie. He comes dressed in his original yellow striped outfit fastened with three buttons in back.This Dean's Childsplay Limited Edition teddy bear in this condition is a rare find, indeed! Box is a beautiful piece of art in itself.
