Description: DescriptionWhen in the late 1970’s Colnago developed a more aerodynamic bike, he decided to go with a more radicaldesign. Not so much concerning the geometry, which was still based on the Mexico, but as far as the tubing andparts are concerned, he went all in.The key aspect of the design was the decision to use tubes with extra narrow diameters and the outcome was theColnago Mexico TT. A bike that was so labor intensive only a few were built. Let’s take a look at what wasstandard on this bike and then all of the things that is specially designed! The fork has been specially developed. It has an aerodynamic integrated fork crown and fixed front brake socket, which amazingly sits on the back of the fork. The forks steerer has to fit through the headtube which has an ultra-narrow diameter. Consequently, the steer is even more narrow at 17.5 mm. The stem was custom made as areplacement but is almost to the exact specifications as the original 3ttt stem which is broken but will be providedwith the bike. The original brake levers were Modolo and they were aero routed but made of plastic and didn’t work. They havebeen replaced with the rare first generation aero Cobolto Record levers. They work perfectly. The Frame is also very unique as the head tube is round it is the only tube that is round on the main triangle. Allthe other tubes of the triangle are profiled to add strength and stability and were found on the much later NuovoMexico models. The lugs are undersized too. The bottom bracket shell is almost normal. To add stability and fit the tubes into thiscluster, a set of sleeves was added which work as external butting to the bottom bracket. The seat stays are notonly really thin but also aerodynamically improved. The shifter levers have been moved into the main triangle ontop of the downtube and the cables are all internally routed as far as this was possible. The seatpost was milledfrom its 24mm diameter to make the sides slimmer. The original Concor Supercorsa was one of the most aerodynamic saddles in 1981. This bike has the ConcorSuperleggera saddle with aluminum rails that has been completely refurbished by Kontour Bike Saddles inBelgium. The chainrings have been polished and milled and pantographed Campagnolo Super Record crankset in the classyMexico version. The pedals are Campagnolo Record Superleggera with Christophe toe clips and straps. The chain and the freewheel are Regina Oro and both are NOS. The wheels are Ambrosio Hypothesis and areNOS as well, mounted on Campagnolo Record low flange hubs. This bike was in the works for nearly a year and no expense was spared in rebuilding it back to near originalcondition. This is a jewel among jewels and very rare to find in this condition and would make a magnificentaddition to your collection.Seat Tube-54cm, Top Tube-53cm, Head Tube-11cm, Standover-78cm
