Description: Vintage Remembrance 4 Time ZoneDesk, Shelf or Mantel Clock Handmade Swiss brass clock frame. Clock is very well made, high quality handmade construction. Clock has a gold tone. Clock does not have the original clock movement. Clock currently not working. When it was working, it kept time in 4 different time zones. Words on dial: Central, Eastern, Mountain, Pacific, Remembrance, 8 and Swiss.On the frame surrounding the dial: North, South, East, West letter points. Arrow shapes in between. Clock display accented on both sides with decorative curls. On the dial, beautiful gold tone numbers and dot accents. Clock weighs about 4 pounds, 8 ounces. Words on back of movement: Tochigi Tokei Co. Ltd. Japan. No (0) jewels. Quartz. Design reminds me of an ancient sundial or a compass. MEASUREMENTS Clock Display - 7 1/16" by 7 1/16" Height - 7 1/2" Length of Base - 11" Width of Base - 2 3/8" Base Thickness - 3/16" Clock Display is attached to twin 1 1/8" squares on the base. AGE The Remembrance clock was designed in the 1940s, to be an 8 day Swiss clock by Semca, in Switzerland. This clock has been in the house for decades. I don't know the exact age of of this particular Remembrance clock. CONDITIONThis clock was a reliable time keeper. It is no longer keeping time. When I move the little black wheel on the back of the clock movement, to turn the minute hand to set the time, both the minute hand and all 4 hour hands move. The clock has patina, wear, scuffs, lint, scratches, spots, soiling & wear. Again, this is not the original clock movement. It now has a battery operated clock movement, with one AA battery. Battery not included. The clock movement is attached to the back with wood, glue and duct tape. The clock movement is attached, still, I can gently move the wood block away from the clock about 1/8". Looks like original felt on bottom of base. Felt has scuffs, soiling, tears, looks like drops of glue, lint and wear. Photo 5. There are areas where the gold tone finish has worn, and darker areas can be seen. The dial also has areas where the finish has worn and little dark dots here and there. I believe the clear material in the clock frame is plastic and not glass. Clear plastic has scuffs, scratches, soiling & lint. Below the top frame, the clear plastic has what reminds me of a Jack Frost pattern that appears on windows in the winter. I don't know if this will wash off, or if it is lightly scratched into the plastic. It is located on the inside of the front piece of clear plastic. It is about 1/4" to 1" in height, and the width of the clock. It is challenging to see. I only notice it when I tilt the clock into a certain position in the light. Photos 10 & 11. Overall, this is a very beautiful, high quality construction, vintage brass Remembrance clock. PACKAGING Your Remembrance clock will be very carefully packaged.
