It is designed to hold a head of iceberg lettuce. The Spike goes into the core of the lettuce head to keep it off the bottom. The lid is a dome to allow for larger heads of lettuce. Condition: The bowl and spike are in great condition with some wear scratches on the outside of the bowl. The lid does have some noticeable scratches and does not seal completely air-tight.
