Description: Vintage 1951 Tydol Veedol road map of New Jersey, printed more than 73 years ago. This map opens to 18" x 26½" and has great detail on old highway alignments and route numbers, with cartography by H.M. Gousha. There are inset plans of Trenton, New York, Philadelphia, and Atlantic City, along with a guide to historical sites, including the Indian King Tavern, Sandy Hook Lighthouse, Jockey Hollow, and the Edison Memorial Tower. The map was distributed by the Tide Water Associated Oil Company in 1951 to promote its Tydol Flying A gasoline and Veedol motor oil. It is dated by the code number in the lower margin: 9-Y. Population data is from the 1940 census. Condition: This map is in very good, lightly used condition, with no rips, tears, or writing. There's one tiny hole, the size of a grain of rice.
