The 433rd Tactical Fighter Squadron was a unit of the United States Air Force (USAF) that served during the Vietnam War. The squadron was activated in January 1965 and deployed to Vietnam in March of that year, where it operated out of the Phu Cat Air Base in the Republic of Vietnam.During its time in Vietnam, the 433rd Tactical Fighter Squadron primarily flew the F-4 Phantom II fighter-bomber aircraft. The squadron participated in a number of major operations, including Rolling Thunder and Linebacker, and carried out a wide range of missions, including air-to-ground attacks, air superiority missions, and reconnaissance flights.The squadron suffered significant casualties during the Vietnam War, with several of its aircraft shot down and many of its pilots and crew members killed or captured.
