This early Victorian locket dates from the 1840s to 1850s. It features two places for photos with two pieces of original beveled glass and two photos from the period! Both photos are daguerrotypes--a man and woman, probably husband and wife. The daguerrotype was "the first publicly available photographic process; it was widely used during the 1840s and 1850s." --Wikipedia The pocket watch locket has engine-turned front and back covers. To access the compartments, just look for the hinges and find the discreet tabs opposite for opening. The edges are ornately chased. Usually, lockets of this type have gold front and back covers. These tested as 10K gold. Other than the covers, it is probably gold-filled (but untested).
