Description: VERY RARE "ACTUAL" final DIE TRIAL STRIKING for the Official Inaugural Medal struck for the Inauguration of President Donald J. Trump on January 20th, 2017 struck in bronze measuring 2 3/4" in size and quite heavy weighing about 6 oz. by Medalcraft Mint. Medal is a test striking and quite rare as such in GEM uncirculated condition (all as seen) . This is the actual approved medal that was given Official Inaugural status by the Inaugural Committee and more important Donald Trump and his immediate family, Don Jr. etc ! This actual FINAL STRIKE / FINISHED version only differs from those packaged and boxed is the omission of the Medalcraft edgemark which in some ways makes this medal a very rare variety as well in the Inaugural medal series. The story behind the "Official" Inaugural for President Trump in 2017 is quite interesting. There were months of debate on approved designs and options between November of 2016 to January 20th , 2017. President Trump strongly insisted on having the White House as a backdrop for his Official Inaugural medal but was told by his legal counsel that he was not permitted to use the White House image prior to being sworn into office. President Trump would not compromise and ultimately nothing was settled until a week or so before the actual Inauguration, a medal that was approved by President Trump himself was struck by Medalcraft Mint with his approved image with the White House as a backdrop. It is my understanding that about 200-500 or so of the finished medals were struck and sent to President Trump and his family for the purpose to present as gifts to the select few VIPs who attended the Official Inaugural Luncheon held at his Trump International Hotel that literally sits directly across about 1 block or so from the White House here in Washington, D.C. This medal was given on an "Official" basis at that very Inaugural event and is extremely rare when found with none having surfaced on ebay for last 3 years. This Trump 2017 Inaugural medal is actually the most Official of the authorized Presidential Inaugural medals issued for the Inauguration of President Trump in 2017 and the ONLY one sanctioned by his family and the President himself for the actual Inauguration !
