The shaker grate is an important part of your furnace. Air passes through the bottom of the grate to the base of the fire. Rotating the handle position will agitate the coals and allow ash to drop into the lower pan. It is important to inspect the grates periodically. If you notice that the grates are warping or starting to burn out they should be replaced! Note: This shaker grate will work as a replacement for the front or back.
