Description: This item is an antique vintage right-handed 36 1/2" wood shaft iron. It is a lined face Deep Face mashie. Made for May & Co Nairobi, Kenya. You rarely see clubs from Nairobi. Made by George Nicoll in Scotland at their Leven Fife factory (hand cleek mark). Made for Alex Patrick of Leven as well. 36* loft and a C 4 swingweight. The head is clean and not all rusted. It does have the expected play nicks and dings and a dark patina. Please look at the many zoom pictures for a better idea of condition. The shaft is an old apparently original hickory. The shaft is straight, I see no cracks and it has some play at the hosel. All hickory shafted clubs should be re-set prior to play. The grip is an old long leather wrap that is in fair vintage condition. Great collectible names. If you are considering playing with this club all wooden shafted irons should be re-set prior to play. While I see no issues with the shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage. These wooden shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee wooden shafts against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old wooden shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old wooden shafted wood with a hard range ball. Shipping in the US is calculated and based on a 3-pound box. This item shipped UPS Ground. For those of you that never ship but only receive items, the further you are from me in NC the more shipping will be. That is the way the carriers charge.
