Description: For sale we have a unique and interesting WW1 period wristwatch style cased wrist compass. It is 38mm in diameter, in line with the trench watch cases of the period. It has a rotating bezel, which has a bearing marker the user can set. To the right-hand side is the needle lock which prevents damage when not in use. It comes on a new vintage style genuine leather strap for fixed lugs. It functions well and is in good overall condition for the age. The bearing marker on the glass is missing and a previous owner has drawn a line in marker pen. This is removable. Please see the images as these compliment and aid the description provided below.A further condition report is below. Face: The face is original and in good condition. The silver finish is good, with the original signing being clear. It has the original radium painted lume plots. Needle:The needle is original and has a thermally blued finish which has corrosion with age. Glass: A replacement plastic lens. It is missing the bearing marker which has been drawn on in marker pen. Compass lock:The slid lock is original and working. It has a slight dent. Case: The case is chrome plated brass and is in average condition. It has light surface scratching associated with wear, but no deep marks. There is wear to the plating in areas. Caseback:The case back is chrome plated brass and is solid. It has wear to the chrome plate and light surface scratching associated with age. It has no dents. Strap: The watch is on a period expanding bracelet. It is in good condition, with some light wear to the gold plating. It will fit any wrist size.
