UNIQUE OOAK LOUISE LEMP PABST, WI ARTIST, STUDY OF A YOUNG GIRL IN SCARF

Description: Louise Lemp Pabst (1909-1977) was a member of the Lemp Brewery family of St. Louis. She married Edwin Pabst, a grandson member of Milwaukee's Pabst family. Louise lived and studied art in France during the decades preceding WWII, in particularly under the tutelage of noted French artist and professor, Emile Aubry. Louise returned to the US in 1939, prior to the invasion of France by the Nazi's. During her marriage to Edwin Pabst Louise practiced her art professionally, often creating portraits of women and men from the upper society of Milwaukee, though also creating a broader variety of subjects, children, hired models, some landscapes and still life studies. Louise passed away in 1977, after which her estate was partially divided with many of her art works going to the Milwaukee Auction Galleries, where a catalog was produced. This drawing of a young girl in head scarf is an unknown person, but Louise was known to select children she encountered for her studies. This drawing, as other Louise Pabst items I offer and will continue to offer, are all part of that estate. This is a unique work in fine condition.
