The hyper-callousing extends far up both sides of the shell, the shell has a light colored base similar to the albino hawaiiensis I have, yet as the photos show, this shell's dorsum has normal coloring. The base and hyper-calloused sides are a beautiful pinkish cream color, and where the hyper-calloused sides end and the dorsum begins is a thin, delicate, light violet tinge that sets off the GEM coloring of what is a vivid and very glossy shell. Collected live under a rock, (you know, it is truly amazing how many shells are found in that manner, by simply looking under a rock!) in 25 feet of water off Kaena Point, Oahu Hawaii, just the kind of place shell collectors love to go to, because that area is so inaccessible I get tired just thinking about it! .
