🌟 ULTRA RARE 1969 Official 18mm Inaugural Medal Cufflink Set

Description: Exceedingly rare (likely less than 12 sets struck and given out) Inaugural VIP Gift small Official Inaugural medal made by Medallic Art Co as cufflinks (Medallic Art Co back stamped on each ) using specially made 18mm dies of the official Inaugural Medal (I assume these same 18mm dies were used to strike and produce the 14K gold Inaugural Committee gift charms as well) and an interesting connection. Special Official 18mm Obverse and reverse dies were prepared from research at the direction of JW Marriot (yes.. that JW Marriot of the HOTEL chain who was chairman of the 1969 Official Inaugural Committee) ) . JW Marriot knowing that LBJ was fond of producing 14K gold cufflinks reportedly pitched the idea of 14K Official Inaugural Medal dies strikes medals crafted in the Inaugural VIP Cufflinks sets. Its presumed a base test striking in bronze were done and presented to Committee members but the idea never took off (though its presumed 2 or 3 Gold Official Inaugural Medal Cufflinks sets were struck for Mr. Marriot and likely President Nixon as special presentations) This very rare Official Inaugural Medal variant in 18mm is so impossible to find that the late renowned Inaugural Medals dealer Joe Levine documented and sold just two sets at $850 and $975 as private sales that he brokered personally to his most advanced Inaugural medal collectors.
