[Note: The Girl pictured here is not included in this sale] FYI for all the Experts: Fender began making black cases for their guitars, including the iconic Stratocaster, in the 1960s. Specifically, black molded plastic cases (commonly referred to as "black tolex cases") started appearing around 1962. These cases became standard for Fender Stratocasters and Telecasters during the 1960s and continued to be a common option for Fender guitars throughout the 70s and beyond. However, it's worth noting that Fender had offered different case styles and colors before that, such as tweed cases in the late 1950s. The black tolex case became more synonymous with the Stratocaster after it became a more mainstream and widely recognized instrument in the 60s. By the time the Black Stratocaster became a more iconic reference (mainly due to the legendary guitar played by David Gilmour of Pink Floyd in the 1970s), the black case was already firmly associated with Fender guitars in general.
