The medium is egg tempera and colored pencil (his signature medium in later years). He mixed up his own egg tempera emulsion from scratch. He studied under Thomas Hart Benton, Stanton MacDonald-Wright, and Boardman Robinson. Archie Musick was born January 19, 1902 in Kirksville, Missouri, to parents Levi Prince Musick and Zada (Goeghegan) Musick.
