Description: Paeonia rockii suffruticosa hybrids, four year old blooming shrubs. These plants are seed grown on their own roots. The plants you're buying are bare root with leaves trimmed off. They are one to two branches. Tree Peonies require full sun or six or more hours of sun and fertile soil with good drainage. Flowers are semi double fragrant pink or white, with dark maroon basal blotches. The flowers when mature are the size of dinner plates. P. rockii is an exceptionally hardy and durable plant once established. I will be shipping these through fall as bare root with roots in peat moss, with leaves clipped to avoid damage. Tree Peonies are the most beautiful flowers in the world and worth your patience. GROWING INSTRUCTIONS Please read. Tree Peonies need at least a half day sun and good drainage. They also require at least four weeks of night time temperatures below freezing to thrive. These plants are best planted in the fall or winter. I suggest well rotted compost or manure be added to the soil along with a quarter cup of bone meal to encourage flowering in spring. Dig a hole larger than needed for the roots and fill with your mixture of garden soil compost and bone meal. Paeonia is not that particular about pH, but if it's too acidic add recommended lime.
