Description: Here's a very special tramp art jewelry box dated 1896. Not only does this box have the typical layered notched elements, it is embellished with brass claw feet and brass lion head ring pulls on the ends. As well, there's a brass cartouche or medallion on the top surrounded by wooden stars. The front displays the monogram " J M ". Or is it "T M " ? I'm only certain of the initial "M". The interior retains its original red silk lining. The box is 11.25 inches wide X 6 inches deep at the side X 5 inches high. The interior depth is about 3.5 inches. The box is clearly dated "1896" on the bottom. Unlike most of the boxes we find, this one still has the original lock and key ! Overall, this jewelry or trinket box is exceptional not only in details and features but in condition.
