Description: Dr Virago Pete's TPMS Sensor Repair Service IM NOT SELLING TPMS SENSORS READ MY AD IM SELLING A REPAIR SERVICE READ MY AD IM NOT SELLING TPMS SENSORS READ MY AD IM SELLING A REPAIR SERVICE READ MY AD IM NOT SELLING TPMS SENSORS READ MY AD IM SELLING A REPAIR SERVICE READ MY AD TPMS means Tire Pressure Monitoring System and every modern vehicle is equipped with this. There is a sensor inside each tire which senses tire air pressure temperature and battery condition and sometimes temperature. The original "watch battery" inside the sensor goes bad sometimes at 5 years or maybe if you are lucky lasts a few years longer. I suppose it depends on whether the car truck suv was exposed to weather conditions and how much it was driven because temperature and amount of use affects battery life. After a few short years you get a dashboard light which nags you to check tire pressure or indicates some sort of failure in the TPMS system. At the best case scenario it is just that you need to inflate your tires to the correct air pressure. At the worst case scenario you have something that has gone bad and needs repair. And that can get expensive. Lets face it some repair places SOCK IT TO YOU on prices and some do not. The shop rates per hour of labor can be lots of money per hour. More than any worker or employee makes per hour. So while you are slaving away at work- having a vehicle repair takes money away faster than you can earn. How does it work? 1. Buyer carefully packages TPMS sensor 2. Buyer mails (using any shipper) package or box at buyers own expense3. Seller receives package or box and carefully inspects4. Seller disassembles TPMS sensor and replaces "watch battery" with a brand new one5. Seller reassembles and seals TPMS sensor6. Seller tests TPMS sensor for correct function6. Seller arranges shipping back to buyer If the sensor is physically broken or mangled or cracked then it is not a candidate for battery replacement.a) use caution when using a tire replacement machine as the sensor can get broken or damagesb) dont use excessive force when removing TPMS from rimc) inspect it carefully before shipping/buying to make sure plastic shell and valve stem are in reuseable condition Which equipment is used to test TPMS sensor for proper operation?1. OTC 3833-1 handheld tester a. displays Serial Number b. displays Radio Signal Strength c. displays Modes of operation d. displays whether bidirectional communication functions correctly e. displays battery life2. Napa Echlin TechSmart T550003 handheld tester programmer a. displays Serial Number b. displays Radio Signal Strength c. displays Modes of operation d. displays whether bidirectional communication functions correctly e. displays battery life f. displays temperature*Note* both tester models are highly regarded as being reliable and accurate by automotive service industry and many are in use in shops worldwide. TPMS sensors which are no good are indicated by "failed" on the display. Those sensors which are good are indicated by values and various messages of successful operation. Some senors are removeable from the tire cleanly and others are not. Some sensors are meant to be destroyed as you remove them. Many tire technicians just cut all the sensors off knowing that they are disposeable one-time-use. BUT WAIT you know that not all sensors have to be destroyed. When there is a will - there is a way! I suggest using a screwdriver or nut driver to save the plastic sensor whenever possible. Do your best to save the old TPMS sensor. Each one is very expensive - have you priced the OEM original cost of these? They are very pricey to buy the same one as before. But what if we put an effort to save it rather than cutting it off or mangling it beyond servicing. Some valve stems have a wire leading inside the plastic case - you see the metal valve stems - some are actually valve stem antenna. Some are not. Some have a nut or screw that connects the TPMS plastic case to the valve stem and by unscrewing it then the two pieces come apart cleanly. My point is look at your sensor and determine how you are going to remove it carefully and without harming it. OK GREAT YOU REMOVED IT CAREFULLY Now determine if you will buy a sensor from your local parts store or online. WHEW shockingly expensive. Right? Im telling you. OK Im sure you have your reasons why you want to put in a new battery inside your old otherwise perfectly good TPMS sensor.1. You want to keep the old part rather than replace it2. Cost savings3. Same old serial number is better as the vehicles ECU computer already knows that serial number4. If it aint broke dont fix it5. Who knows about the quality of replacement TPMS sensor the shop wants to install6. You want DIY and dont want to spend money on buying equipment7. Less hassle to DIY and usually cheaper by far QuestionPete I noticed your Napa Echlin Techsmart T550003 is also a programmer. Can I send you a compatible TPMS sensor and you can put a watch battery inside of my dead old TPMS sensor just to make it work again. See I just want you to copy my old sensor data into my new senor- Can you do that? I dont need my old sensor back. Answer Yes. Same price. My Napa Echlin Techsmart T550003 is a programmer - you are right. It programs QWIK-SENSOR models QS101M QS101R QS102 QS103It programs Intermotor brand and Standard brand OE-matching Clone-able models too many to list here (TPM17A ... TPM108A ... TPM82A ... TPM25A ... you get the idea the part number starts with TPM and usually ends with the letter A. There are a couple of hundred which are for various makes models years of cars. Yes you can send a compatible TPMS sensor and it only takes a few seconds for me to duplicate your old sensors serial number onto it. Usually but not always the car then knows which wheel well it goes into and is just like the old sensor. Im going to just send you the old sensor back anyways. You can then install it or not. My current equipment can program / clone serial numbers for most vehicles up to year 2015. For years beyond 2015 - the car itself usually has a programmer built in and doesnt matter if the serial number is different than before or not. There is a basic reset procedure for newer cars. Most of these are not a hassle but some still are. So if you need me to copy your old one onto new blank or cloneable type- no problem just make sure it will work with my equipment first. AnswerI will replace battery on any brand of TPMS sensor year 2000 to 2024 that you send which looks like the photo in my ad. If yours looks different substantially then send me a message with a photo. Most makes models and years look very very similar. QuestionPete I read the other guys message about programming a new sensor... If I send you a compatible programmable TPMS sensor can you type in whatever I want as the serial number? For example I want RF LF RR LR as part of my serial numbers because my code reader doesn't display which tire it is and it would help. That way you can line up the rim and tire back how it was and not have to rebalance tire later. My battery replacement service makes the sensor weigh exactly the same as before. New potted epoxy or silicone will be filled just as before. Got a TPMS unit that is for different year or style? Send photos and describe via ebay message. Ill consider it. SincerelyDr Virago Pete
