She is reaching into the tree (beyond her flesh). Her hand is becoming part of the tree. The design is intentionally dark as this scene unfolds before she can release the light. She is still sleeping but about to wake. The outer part of the design is faded, blurred and the imagry is difficult to make out which forms the "This Dream". Inside her dream everything is clear but the periphery is clouded.
