This is illustrated with fourteen maps and diagrams by Robert Anderson and with twenty-four pages of photographs (All accounted for), including a stunning black and white frontispiece. There is no dust jacket. This book is in a nice condition. The vibrant blue cloth bound boards and spine are in a good state, but please note that there is soft crushing to some of the corners and a couple of marks and wearing to the sides. However, overall, they are intact and sturdy. On the spine there is beautiful gold gilt lettering. There is foxing to the inside of the boards, endpapers and the first and last couple of pages and marks to the page edges. There is the very occasional small mark to the other pages. Other than this, the pages are really neat, there are no pen or pencil written inside this book and there are no rips to the pages, except a small rip to the central part of the double-sided photo plate (see last photo). This has not gone through the paper, but rather worn a small section of the photo. The binding is tight and all 193 pages are present. Please study the photos carefully as to the condition of this book, as they do form part of the description. This measures approximately 21.8 cm by 14.3 cm and 2.7 cm wide. It weighs approximately 491 grams. William Hutchison Murray OBE was a Scottish mountaineer and writer, born in 1913 and died in 1996. However, he was born in Liverpool. This book details the history of the attempts at summiting Everest. Murray had been a leader of the 1951 Everest Reconnaissance expedition. He was also author of a work on the Scottish Himalayan Expedition of 1950. This is a lovely example of this book and a collectible item. Thank you so much for looking.
