Description: The Phonology and Morphology of Yom. Charles Gordon Beacher, Jr. Published by University Microfilms, Ann Arbor, Michigan. 1969. This is a copyrighted PhD dissertation produced by a student of The Hartford Seminary Foundation (now known as Hartford International University for Religion and Peace), Language and Literature, Linguistics. According to Wikipedia, "Yom, or Pilapila, and formerly Kiliŋa or Kilir, is a Gur language of Benin. It is spoken in the town of Djougou and the surrounding area by the Yoa-Lokpa people. A very closely related dialect called taŋgələm is also spoken by the Taneka people." In fact, the primary bibliographical reference on the Wikipedia page is this particular text! However, no other copies appear to be available for sale online at all. The book itself is paperback, and in fair condition. It is notably water-damaged, with warping and marginal stains. However, no evidence of mold/mildew damage. One page spread has several small speck stains sprinkled across (see photo). Select table of contents shown. The spine is creased and sunned, but holds all pages securely. Minimally rubbed edges and corners. This uncommon text will appeal to collectors and scholars of linguistics studies.
