Description: The Open Road, A Book of Outcast Verse By H Rea Woodman (Hannah Rea Woodman) 1910. First edition, first printing. Self-Published by the author through the A.V. Haight Company of Poughkeepsie, New York. Book is in fine condition and seems to have been stored properly and indoors. Binding is tight. All pages are clean and intact. This is an extremely rare book filled with poems about life of vagrancy, and of outcasts. The book was reprinted in 2020 by Forgotten Books of London. I don't know if the book originally came with a dust cover because I can't find another copy of it online anywhere. It includes a small single fold sample of her other book Tumbleweed which advertised the two bookstores where it could be bought. As noted by the author in early pages of the book, 19 of her poems were originally printed in the New York Times before being included in this book. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._Rea_Woodman She is considered a pioneer of the Wichita area and there is a school theme named after her. She was a rather prolific author as well as a teacher.
