Description: THE HISTORY (1904-1914) BY ARCH R. WIGGINS OF THE SALVATION ARMY VOLUME 5, 1979 This auction is for a 319 page paperback book (8” high x 5 ¼” wide) entitled, The History of the Salvation Army, Volume Five 1904-1914 written by Arch Wiggins. This is the fifth volume of the official history of the Salvation Army that covers the years from 1904 to 1914. The decade was marked by the constant growth of The Army and its expansion into an additional 22 nations. The creation of the first Staff College in London reflected the need for establishing leadership, administrative, and business policies. The period was also marked by the Promotion to Glory of the Founder and the transfer of power to the next General, William Bramwell Booth. The book concludes with a discussion of the International Congress of 1914 and the beginnings of World War I. The forward was written by Frederick Coutts, General. It was first published in 1986 and reprinted in 1979 in cooperation with Thomas Nelson and Sons, Ltd. It includes some black/white photos and is in excellent unused condition with no tears, creases or extraneous markings. The binding is tight and secure. Shipping is $4 within the U.S. only via USPS Media Mail. See my other auctions (including a variety of other books that can be combined to reduce postage costs). SEE IMAGES - Scans and pictures are from the actual books, not stock photos. Any glare is from lighting for the photographs on high gloss surface.
