Description: Up for sale is a Very Rare, SIGNED First American Edition/Third Printing of The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. A Critically Acclaimed, Modern Day Masterpiece and Basis for the Award Winning Show!! SIGNED Early Printings are Scarce and Becoming Increasingly Hard to Find!! Please remember this the THIRD Printing of the First AMERICAN Edition with the number line ending with "3". This is NOT the First Printing of this title and this is NOT the Canadian First!! Hardcover with its original, beautifully illustrated dust jacket, NOT price-clipped! Original price of $16.95. Published by Houghton Mifflin Company: Boston, 1986. Boldly SIGNED on the half-title page by the celebrated author! NOT inscribed to anyone, simply SIGNED by the great Margaret Atwood! Please note there is an additional signature present on this page! Initially, we believed the other signature might be of some importance. Unfortunately, we have been unable to ascertain, with an acceptable degree of certainty, the identity of the other individual who also put their signature on this page. For this reason, we MUST proceed with an abundance of caution and assume the other signature is simply the name of a previous owner. The additional signature adds no monetary value or has any cultural significance. If anything, the additional signature should be viewed as an unfortunate flaw! Once again, we want to repeat that there is another signature present on the same page as the Margaret Atwood signature and we believe this signature is simply the name of a previous owner. A First American Edition/Third Printing. The number line ends with "3". Please remember this is NOT the First Edition/First Printing of this title! Please also remember this is the AMERICAN Edition, NOT the Canadian Edition! This title was first published published in Canada, thus making the TRUE First/First the Canadian Edition. Once again, we want to reiterate that this is NOT a First Edition/First Printing! This rare treasure has some VERY clearly visible wear, but when considering its' scarcity and desirability, is still in Highly Desirable, Highly Collectible condition! The wear, however, is considerable and should be carefully examined/considered. The book appears gently read and no remainder marks, no missing pages and is NOT Ex-Libris or a BCE. The binding has some wear but is still holding tight. All of the pages are present, attached and still surprisingly crisp and clean! Some general/shelf wear along with internal writing, creases/scuffing/wear to the spine/corners/cloth boards, marks/foxing/wear to the edge/fore pages and creases/marks/discoloration/wear to the pages, NOT affecting the text! Please note the wear to the spine/corners/cloth boards, particularly noticeable near/along the edges and on the spine, the numerous marks on the edge/fore pages and the wear that is present the pages, varying in size and severity and particularly noticeable on certain pages. All of the wear previously mentioned is considerable and very clearly visible! The wear should be carefully examined/considered. As previously mentioned, there is some internal writing! This is, in our opinion, the most unfortunate wear affecting this book. Numerous pages have underlined sentences/words and there is some writing and marks in the margins. All of the writing/marks were done in pen. We purposely photographed a few of the pages with the most extensive writing to give you a general idea of the writing/wear. Once again, we want to repeat that there is EXTENSIVE internal writing! The writing is present on numerous pages and should be considered BEFORE buying. The original dust jacket is fully intact and NOT price-clipped but also has considerable wear! Some general/shelf wear along with creases, scuffing, scratches, rips and marks. There are also some marks/discoloration on the inside of the dust jacket! Please note the wear on the spine, at the corners, on the inside jacket flaps and near/along the edges! The wear is considerable and very clearly visible! The wear, particularly near/along the edges, should be carefully examined/considered. We tend to grade the condition of our books rather harshly and took into consideration any and all wear when determining the value of this rare book. Our VERY LOW asking price is a reflection of that consideration. If this copy was in better condition and free of any internal writing, our asking price would be considerably higher. We purposely and closely photographed what we consider to be the most obvious and egregious wear. Once again, we want to reiterate that the wear to both the book and the dust jacket is considerable and VERY clearly visible! The internal writing is EXTENSIVE! All of the wear should be carefully examined/considered BEFORE buying. Numerous photographs from various angles were taken for your consideration/inspection. Please closely and carefully view ALL the pictures for further clarification!! Payment must be received within three days or the book will be re-listed. Please feel free to contact us with any and all questions. We are very proud of our 100% positive feedback/ranking and offer an easy, no questions asked return policy so you can buy with confidence! Thank you!!
