Description: This is the 1939 edition of Patrick Kavanaugh's The Green Fool published by Harper and Brothers, printed in Great Britain. The dust jacket is in hard shape, but it is included. Nonetheless, if you see the photos, you can tell it did a wonderful job of protecting the book itself. A sticker on the front paste-down indicates this was in the personal library of Louise Greene. I see no other stamps nor stickers nor other library markings except that the bottom inch of the spine is a slightly different color, so there may have been some sort of marker there. There is some small writing in pencil in the lower corner of the front paste-down. There is a tiny fleck of yellow on the front cover. The bottom corner of page 65/66 is bent. There is some foxing along the head and the fore-edge, a little on pages 154 & 155, and may be a bit here and there. There are some stains on pages 122 and 123, and I've shown these in the photos as well as a closeup. Please see photos, as they are there to show the condition of the item. There was some paper ephemera in the book that leads me to believe this may have been in the collection of the legendary bookman Francis O'Brian of Portland, Maine. Photo of article excerpt about Mr. O'Brian is from Salt Magazine #4 1986. There were also various news clippings from the sixties and seventies regarding Kavanaugh including his obituary. These will all be included and is why this item cannot be shipped media mail. Please contact me if you would like more photos.
