Description: THE BOYS AND GIRLS' ILLUSTRATED BIRD BOOK, Julia Colman. © 1857, likely a first edition, published by Carlton & Lanahan of New York. Hardcover with color plates and line drawings, 5.75" x 7.5", 140 pages. Book is in Good condition, with intact binding and moderately toned pages - the first few pages are a bit loose but still attached. Owner's name and 1868 date in ink on first free end-paper. A few creases and a smudge here & there on the text pages. Embossed cover boards with gold stamping, bumped & worn corners and wear/fraying at the top of the spine (pic #3.)
