Description: The Beautiful Necessity Seven Essays on Theosophy and Architecture by Claude Bragdon, Published by The Manas Press Rochester New York 1910 First Edition. Condition: Very Good 92 text illustrations Hardcover 93 pages 9.25"7.1" Original heavy navy blue cloth with gilt titling on spine and gilt titling and design on cover. Rubbing to head, tail and corners. Binding and pages are solid and tight. White end sheets are clean with no signatures. Very thick pages are evenly tanned with no creases, markings, notes or underlining. Between pages 46 & 47 a newspaper clipping tiled "Art and Occultism" announcing the 2nd Edition release (1922) of The Beautiful Necessity, slid out out exposing a toned square where I'm guessing this clipping was placed 100 years ago. I have now placed the clipping in a plastic bag. This copy is indeed the 1910 printing. Please see photos for described condition. Additional photos or information is available by request.
