Thailand Coins King Rama III & King Rama VI Commemorative Nickel 20-Baht

Description: Commemorative Issue 20-baht - King Rama III The Father of Thai Trading and Commerce Vajiravudh (Thai:วชิราวุธ , RTGS: Wachirawut, 1 January 1881 – 26 November 1925), was the sixth monarch of Siam (Rama VI) under the Chakri dynasty, ruling from 1910 until his death in 1925. An intellectual polymath, he had keen interests in Siamese history, archaeology, and literature, as well as economics, politics and world affairs. He advanced women's education and founded it for commoners. Rama VI wrote over 1200 books and was the first to translate Shakespeare into Thai. He regulated prostitution and gambling. Some later writers criticized him for promoting Siamese nationalism, though more recent evidence and analysis leans towards cultural promotion and diligent statesmanship. King Vajiravudh founded Chulalongkorn University, the nation's first, and Don Mueang, the first airport, as well as leading participation in World War I.
