Description: —Texas lantana, calico bush (Lantana x hybrida)—perennial flower/shrub —Size: 2-6' tall by 2-6' wide —Site: full sun to part sun —USDA Hardiness Zones: 7-11 —To Propagate: Seed needs no special pretreatment but may take 30-60 days to germinate—we have found that seeds typically begin germination after two weeks and sporadically for around two months thereafter. This form is similar to the native species, Lantana urticoides, in most all respects but produces pink flowers and grows more upright to about 6' tall—flowers begin yellow turning pink then orange to orange-red. The dense flowerheads are loved by bees and other pollinators. The best thing about this perennial is that it will produce a 36"x36" flowering shrub in the first season from a early start indoors. We have found that starting seeds in February we were enjoying flowers as early as August...from the first year! This makes this variety capable of being used as an annual in the north. The rapid growth of Texas lantana also makes for a great container plant. Texas lantana is great as a specimen but can be used as a foundation plant or hedge when planted en masse. Note: If you order more than one lot of one species of seeds, for example you place two orders of 100 seeds, or whatever variation is offered, we assume you want 200 seeds and your order will be sent in one seed packet.
