Description: Swamp Titi (Cyrilla Racemiflora) AKA - Black Titi & Leatherwood Swamp Titi starts as a shrub, but older plants grow tall and take up tree like characteristics. Showy 6 inch long clusters of fragrant white blooms make an appearance in early spring. We nicknamed these 'flower fingers' before we knew the real name. It stays evergreen in Florida, but may turn and drop leaver over winter in NC & further north. These are usually found in the low laying, sandy but swampy areas. The farm we have these growing on backs up to a swamp just FULL of gators!Of course they grow right by the waters edge too!Well, picking seed this year was uneventful. Whew! We decided to go in the morning while the gators were still asleep!
