Description: THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL AND (AS ALL OF MR. STEKETEE'S KNIVES AND WORKS OF ART ARE) VERY WELL MADE HANDMADE HAMMERED FORGED HUNTING KNIFE. IT WAS MADE IN 2016 AND HAS NEVER EVEN BEEN CARRIED, ONLY ADMIRED AND PUT BACK UP. THE KNIFE MEASURES 17-1/4" OVERALL WITH A 12" 480 LAYERS MOSAIK PATTERN DAMASCUS STEEL BLADE. THIS KNIFE IS LITERALLY AS SHARP AS A RAZOR AND (THIS KNIFE COULD BE USED FOR A PRY BAR DAMASCUS STEEL IS 1/4" THICK)! THE MULTI LAYERED BLADE IS HOLLOW GROUND AND THE END EDGE IS A HEAVY SPEAR POINT IN DESIGN, WITH A 6-1/2" SHARPENED FRONT TOP SPINE, SIMPLY A WORK OF ART THAT MY PICTURES CANNOT PICK UP. THE BLADE IS STAMPED "STEK"ON ONE SIDE (SEE PICTURES). THE HANDLES ARE GORGEOUS GENUINE STAG WITH A MULTI LAYERED TWISTED DAMASCUS DOUBLE FRONT FINGER GUARD. THE REAR POMMEL IS VERY THICK ALSO MULTI LAYERED DAMASCUS WITH A BEAUTIFUL BLACK JASPER AND A STAINLESS SPACER, BEAUTIFUL COLORS! IT COMES WITH A THICK ORIGINAL STEK LEATHER SHEATH, ALSO IN NEW CONDITION. THIS IS ONE BEAUTIFUL PEICE OF HIGH-QUALITY WORK PUT IN A LARGE BOWIE KNIFE, BUT IS ALSO A PEICE OF TRUE ART! I am a member of "Professional Knifemakers Association" (PKA) and "The American Bladesmith Society" (ABS). I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ft. Wayne Art Institute in 1974 and a Master of Fine Arts from Western Michigan University in 1976 majoring in sculpture and printmaking. I taught art at the university level from 1977 through 1991. My sculptures, paintings, and prints have been exhibited at numerous art galleries and museums throughout the country. I first began forging and casting steel while in graduate school. My knives have been illustrated in the Knives Publication (by Ken Warner), the Knife Magazine, Blade Magazine, Fighting and Tactical Knives.” “Stek Knives are produced almost exclusively from Damascus steel which is hand forged in my shop. Damascus steel is the result of multi layers of steel forge welded together to create a variety of patterns. The two main types of steel I use for my blades are 1080 and 15N20. A mixture that is alternately stacked, forged and hand welded together to make a billet. Four to eight billets are then stacked together to make a completed billet of 240, 360, or 480 layers.
