Description: Andy Lau and Cherie Chung co-star in Stars and Roses, a prison drama set in Vietnam. Lau (Andy Lau) is a Hong Kong photo-journalist who travels to Vietnam and promptly gets arrested. Afterwards, he befriends Yuen (Cherie Chung), a Vietnamese translator who entreats Lau to find her missing brother. But Lau gets thrown into a prison and sentenced to three years of hard labor, and his hardships begin to multiply. But Lau does manage to find Yuen's brother, and Yuen begins to plot an escape for the men. The fateful time arrives, but their escape is marred with tragedy. Can Yuen and Lau still find the inner strength and innocence to love one another? Taylor Wong (Triads: The Inside Story) directed Stars and Roses, a compelling drama with harrowing, authentic prison sequences, as well as powerful performances from screen favorites Andy Lau and Cherie Chung. Hong Kong photo-journalist Lau and Vietnamese translator Yuen Hung become friends when Lau is arrested for a traffic accident. Yuen wants Lau to find out the whereabouts of her brother. Lau is later thrown into prison again, mistaking as a demonstrator, this time to three years of hard labour. With the help of Yuen, Lau and Yuen's brother escape to China, but Yuen's brother is killed on the way. Lau flees to freedom. Yuen cannot go to China, and Lau has to let her go....
