Includes numerous b/w plates and b/w illustrations throughout. Star charts. The top edge of the book is gilt. A fun and informative (and a bit exhaustive) read, quite detailed about the history of the constellations and their main stars. Clean and bright interior. The main flaw is, this is one of those old books that had some "unopened" (uncut) pages that had to be sliced apart at the fore edges. A former owner cut a few of them too roughly, so the fore edge margins of some pages are a bit ragged, some with small missing pieces. Rear hinge paper is split, but the binding is fully intact. The pastedown on the front cover shows very minor wear. Covers have some faded spots that are only visible at an angle. Former owner's bookplate is affixed to the front endpaper and former owner's name is at top. There is a small donation stamp on the front and rear free endpapers. Selling online since 1999.
